[시사뷰타임즈] 일부 나라들에서 ‘수십만 가지’ 라고 알려져 있는 고형설탕고명즐은 단 것들을 대단히 잘게 조각을 내놓은 것이며 종종 다채로운 색깔의 장식제 또는 사각 또는 원뿔 형태로 자른 초콜릿 케잌 (brownies), 컵케잌, 도넛 또는 아이스크림 따위에 질감을 더하기 위해 쓰인다. 이 아주 조그만 사탕들은 다양한 색깔로 생산되며 일반적으로 고명이나 장식용으로 쓰인다. ‘미국 지역영어’ 라는 영영사전에서는, “아주 작은 공 또는 조그만 막대 형태의 사탕이며 아이스크림, 케잌 그리고 다른 것들의 고명으로 쓰인다.” 고 정의하고 있다.
